Sloane is being stalked and harassed by his ex. He has protection orders but they are being ignored by Gary and not enforced by the Police. Sloane is at his wits end, he works from home and is not going out because he is scared. His brother Matthew suggests 2 options for safety: Matthew could move in with Sloane (or Sloane with him); get a gun or get a guard dog. Guard dog wins by a mile. Tucker is a wolf shifter who helps with rescuing dogs that have been abused, neglected or abandoned. He also works at Silver Bullet, the pack owned gay club. After a rescue operation Tucker stays in wolf form to help the dogs and then smells the most amazing smell...his mate. He overhears Sloane and Matthew talking and hears Sloane needs protection so he remains in his wolf form in order to help his mate. Sloane 'adopts' him and takes him home - they both feel a connection although currently Sloane's is for the dog while Tucker knows they are mates. Tucker protects him the very first night from an attack and gets a big wolfy chomp in on Gary's behind - he stays as a wolf to protect Sloane. Sloane meets Gage while volunteering at the animal rescue - that is Tucker in human form, and there is instant attraction. Now how can Tucker get Sloane to want him as his mate? And who has let the...er...wolf out of the bag? Malevolence strikes just as they bond - will the mates survive the first 24 hours?
I like the book and there is much less repetition in this one compared to others due to this being mates that have just met rather than retelling the story that started in a prior book. It ends quickly though and we don't see into the turbulent past of Tucker that is alluded to which is really annoying. We do see who is up next which I am looking forward to. Because of the shortness of the story and the feeling it ends before it should I have given three stars rather than four.

Again, it was shocking because in reading paranormal books, this is the first I have encountered where the main characters are gay, and it seems like many characters in this book are. The story was very sweet and I did enjoy reading.
I Loved it I like the whole silver bullet series and I can't wait for the next one to come out so I can read it too.
No depth or substance to this unimaginative story. Sorry I paid for it, not worth the 3.99 it cost me.
Ok this is a cute shifter book that deals not only with animal abuse but with domestic abuse. The two subject matters are dealt with care if not a bit superficially. I really liked this book.
